Cotton Seed Treatments
Delta and Pine Land Company (D&PL) currently offers several seed treatment options for use on our cotton seed
product line. These offerings include both standard fungicide and insecticide packages.
You can download a list of our treatments (in Microsoft Excel format) by clicking here.
The standard fungicide packages include active ingredients with efficacy
directed toward early season diseases which often limit stand establishment
and adversely affect plant health, particularly in harsh early season environments.
Rhizoctonia, pythium, thielaviopsis, and various other early-season pathogens
often reduce cotton stands. With the inclusion of the most efficacious and
economical fungicidal seed treatments in our standard fungicide package,
growers are presented with maximum opportunity to take full advantage of
the superior genetics and transgenes purchased in D&PL varieties.
Seed treatment insecticides are included as options in the D&PL product
portfolio. These treatments are primarily directed toward providing control
of early season thrips/aphids. Currently, Gaucho Grande® (imidicloprid),
Acephate 80S, and Cruiser® (thiamethoxam) are offered as optional treatments
by D&PL. In general, insecticidal seed treatments offer growers extremely
good insect control in combination with the added benefits of convenience,
increased worker safety, and superior value as compared with other applied
insecticide options.
D&PL is also offering Dynasty CST® and DEL-MAX® as premium fungicide
packages. They provide protection against a broad spectrum of seed-borne
and soil-borne diseases in cotton, including Fusarium, Pythium, and pre-
and post-emergent Rhizoctonia and they deliver enhanced plant vigor and
yield.
D&PL is also offering AVICTA Complete PAK® which offers cotton growers
an innovative and convenient seed-delivered technology designed to effectively
protect cotton seedlings against all early season pests ― nematodes, insects
and diseases using a three in one technology. AVICTA Complete Pak is a combination
of three separately-registered products: AVICTA, a novel seed treatment
nematicide, Cruiser® seed treatment insecticide, and Dynasty CST® seed-delivered
fungicide.
Seed treatments offer growers additional tools for use in their cotton
production system. In combination with superior D&PL varieties, seed
treatments, whether fungicidal or insecticidal, have the potential to preserve
value, reduce risk, and to increase the profit potential for cotton producers
Beltwide.
